Personal data processed through this website and related event operations is controlled by the organizers of the Turbo Pedaling Kenya event. We do not publish individual or corporate organizer identities on this website; use the email above for privacy correspondence.

2. What we collect

• Event registration: participant name, age, optional blood group, participant contact, emergency contact, ticket delivery email, category/tier, amount and payment status.
• Payments: billing name and email shared with our payment provider (Pesapal), plus payment references and status we store.
• Newsletter: email address and optional name, plus send/open activity for campaigns where enabled.

3. Why we use your data

• To process event registration, issue tickets, and manage check-in or transfers.
• To take payment and keep financial/audit records.
• To send essential event updates using contacts you provide.
• To send newsletters where you have subscribed.
• To keep the website secure and working (essential cookies/sessions).
• Optional blood group is used only for safety / medical-emergency response in connection with the event, and only where you consent to provide it.

4. Event details may change

If you purchase a ticket, event details remain subject to change until the day of the event. That includes categories, routes or distances, start times, location details, and related programme information published on this site. Where a material change affects your booking, we will use reasonable efforts to notify you using the contact details provided at registration.

5. Lawful bases (Kenya Data Protection Act)

Depending on the activity, we rely on: performance of a contract (registration and tickets), legitimate interests compatible with running safe events (security, fraud prevention, essential operations), consent (newsletter marketing; optional blood group; where otherwise required), and legal obligation (for example tax or accounting retention where applicable).

6. Sharing with others

We share data with service providers who process it on our instructions, including Pesapal for payments, our hosting provider, and our email delivery provider. We do not sell your personal data. Emergency contacts you list may be used only if needed for a participant’s safety during an event.

7. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies (such as local browser storage) to operate the website securely, remember basic preferences (for example display theme and your cookie choice), and support core features such as event booking and payments. We do not currently use third-party advertising or analytics cookies on the public site. You can choose Accept all or Necessary only in the cookie banner; necessary cookies are required for the site to function.

8. How long we keep data

We keep registration and payment records for as long as needed to run the event, handle disputes, and meet legal/accounting duties, then delete or anonymise personal data that is no longer required. Newsletter records are kept while you remain subscribed (and for a limited period after unsubscribe for suppression). Exact retention periods will be set in our internal schedule and may be updated here.

9. Your rights

Under the Kenya Data Protection Act, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or objection to certain processing, and you may withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. 10. International transfers

Some providers (for example payment, hosting, email, or CDN services) may process data outside Kenya. Where that happens, we take steps appropriate under applicable law, including contractual safeguards where required.

11. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The version number at the top will change when we publish a material update. Continued use of the site after an update means the new notice applies to later processing.
